Meet your newest Ohio Election Workers! 13 Seniors from Georgetown High School will be serving as poll workers in the upcoming election on November 7th. The students had to complete several hours of mandatory training in order to perform this public service. The students were impressed by all of the various election safeguards that are in place to protect the integrity of the ballots. Their favorite was the door with two different locks that must be opened by members of both political parties in order to gain access to sensitive areas. Every student said the training was really helpful in helping them understand the voting processes that are used in Ohio. Due to the extreme shortage of election workers, most of whom are over age 61, Ohio began to let high school seniors who are 17 years old do this critical job. Georgetown students will be the only ones in the county participating in the “Youth at the Booth” program, which was started in 2022. Congrats to Daniel Broadwell, our Technology Coordinator. Mr. Broadwell was inducted into the Southern Hills Career and Technical Center Wall of Fame on September 14, 2023. Daniel is a 2015 graduate of GHS and Southern Hills Career and Technical Center Information Technology program. Mr. Broadwell joined the GEVS staff in 2015 as the Technology Assistant and was promoted to the Technology Coordinator in May of 2021. Congrats Mr. Broadwell on this well deserved honor!
