Additional Parking Options For Pick-up and Drop-off
🚗 Georgetown HS Parking Update
Thank you for adjusting to our parking changes this week!
Moving parent pick-up/drop-off to the front of the school has made traffic much faster and smoother.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Do not park in the bus area.
Those on foot are difficult for bus drivers to see and can create a dangerous situation.
✅ New Parent Option: Student Parking Lot
We are now opening the student parking lot for pick-up and drop-off. See map for details.
Morning Drop-Off
Enter through the elementary driveway.
Pull into the lot by the softball field.
Use Lane 3 (yellow arrow) as a curb, drop off, and exit the same way you came in.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Park in any open space in the student lot.
Students should exit through the South Doors to meet you.
🚧 Note: Lanes 1 & 2 are blocked with cones (red on map). Always use Lane 3 in the morning.
🙌 Thank you for your patience and flexibility!
This new option is for families who like to park and wait, or want a slower-paced alternative.
Parking Changes Effective Monday, August 25th
Jr./Sr. School Parents,
Thank you for your patience as we work through our parking lot changes. I know this has been frustrating, and I truly appreciate the grace many of you have shown. Our goal is simple: to keep students safe and make drop-off and pick-up as smooth as possible.
Over the past three days, I’ve watched our current system closely. The good news is that the safety issue has been fixed. The bad news is that the flow for parents dropping off and picking up is still far from ideal. We need a better plan.
Starting Monday, August 25th, we will switch things around:
Parent drop-off and pick-up will move to the front of the building.
Bus loading and unloading will move to the North Parking Lot (see map).
To make this work:
Please pull as far forward as possible before stopping at the curb.
Do not drop off or pick up using parking spaces or the middle of the lot. This forces students to cross traffic, which is unsafe, and slows everyone down.
Have students ready with bags in hand so they can get in and out quickly.
Extra staff will be on duty to keep traffic moving.
Once you drop off or pick up, pull into the lane. Orange cones (marked in red on the map) will split the lane into two exits:
Left lane – Exit directly onto Mt. Orab Pike (left or right).
Right lane – Circle behind student parking, then exit through the elementary driveway.
Tip: Pick the lane that is moving faster. This setup should help speed up drop-off and pick-up and reduce backups at the exits.
I know changes like this take time to adjust to, but I believe this plan will make things safer and quicker for everyone. Thank you again for working with us to make our school safer for students.
Sincerely,
Matthew E. Cameron
